Adam practices in commercial and corporate law, with an interest in significantly regulated and licensed industries. Adam has specific strengths in information technology (including e-commerce), intellectual property (including as a Trade Marks Attorney), and competition and consumer law.

Adam’s experience also draws on a previous role in financial services regulatory policy with the corporate regulator, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, as well as two secondments as in-house counsel for a telecommunications carrier.


specific assignments


  • acting for technology developers, consultancies and other service providers and acquirers in negotiating and drafting consultancy, development, licensing, maintenance, outsourcing, procurement, sale, supply and support agreements;
  • obtaining AFSL and conduct relief from ASIC for an e-commerce system following challenges in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal;
  • successfully acting against the Minister for Defence in respect of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (Prevention of Proliferation) Act 1995, Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations 1958, and United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1737 (2006) and 1747 (2007);
  • conducting in-house training on the Australian Consumer Law to various divisions of a major motor vehicle company;
  • acting for various national franchisors in respect of all aspects of their business, including franchising and disclosure documentation, Code compliance, supply arrangements, third line forcing notifications, corporate structuring, intellectual property protection and licensing, and property leasing;
  • advising shopping centre landlords on competition law issues such as restraint of trade and mergers and acquisitions.
